Acute conditions are self-limiting episodes of illness which are not of a chronic nature.
This includes: Upper Respiratory Tract: Acute sinusitis, colds & flu, viral and bacterial infections, upper respiratory problems, ear infections, post nasal drip, hayfever, allergic rhinitis ∫Digestive complaints: Gastro-enteritis, bloating, cramping and digestive complaints ∫ Paediatrics: (childhood diseases, recurring URTI, reflux and teething)
Chronic conditions are conditions from which the individual has suffered for a period of time. Chronic conditions are far more complex in their treatment as they are generally inter-related with other health issues that have not been addressed or identified for some years prior to the onset of the chronic disease. Very often if an individual suffers from a number of health issues that are then treated separately from each other, the true root of the problem has not been identified. Homoeopaths are trained in identifying patterns and causal links to complex health problems. For example, many are unaware of the proven link between the gut and the brain. The gut is in a sense, “the second brain” and long term intestinal problems can give rise to depression, loss of memory and brain/neurological disorders. Other links include eczema-asthma and the onset of chronic allergies, as well as the link between food intolerances and chronic sinusitis/headaches.
Specific individualised treatment protocols are provided for the following conditions:
Digestive problems: chronic constipation, haemorrhoids, diarrhoea, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, GERD (reflux oesphagitis), bloating, food sensitivities, allergies. (Detoxification programmes can significantly reduce allergies and immune hypersensitivity)
Metabolic/Endocrine conditions: thyroid imbalances (overactive/underactive), adrenal problems, burn-out, fatigue, supportive treatment in diabetes, blood pressure disturbances (low/high), Weight management & detoxification programmes
Hormonal conditions: PMS, irregular menses, dysmenorrhoea, PCOS, menopause
Dermatological conditions: acne, eczema, psoriasis and other skin complaints- very often skin conditions are related to immune/intestinal problems and there is a direct correlation between states of stress and skin conditions.
Infertility and assisted conception: Fertility problems have become much more common today than they were 10-20 years ago. Fertility related issues are complex and involve many systems in the body, not just the reproductive system. The condition of the adrenal glands, thyroid function, gut function, the presence of successful ovulation and levels of estrogen/progesterone and other active hormones must be assessed and treated to assist the body in restoring balance to the very delicate female reproductive system functioning. Dr Gunter has successfully assisted many women in falling pregnant. Her programme applies Body work, acupressure and herbal/homoeopathic medicines to stimulate the reproductive systems ability to successfully conceive. If IVF or AI are required, CAM methods can be used alongside to improve efficacy and success rates of the more invasive procedures.
Autoimmune disease: 20-30 years ago autoimmune diseases were very rare. They have become increasingly prevalent and their onset is related to chronic disturbances of the immune functionality. There is a very real connection between autoimmunity and the gut, given that 70-80% of immune tissue resides in the intestines. Autoimmune conditions include: Rheumatoid arthritis, SLE, Sarcoidosis, Crohn’s, Ulcerative colitis, endometriosis and others.
Cancer: Cancer has become alarmingly prevalent in the last 10-20 years and is most certainly a multi-factorial disease. A number of biochemical and immunological changes occur in the body prior to the onset of cancer. Research has identified that the prevalence of hormones (in plastics, in certain foods and dairy products), pesticides, environmental toxins can all act as immune and endocrine disruptors and are linked to the onset of various cancers. Long term stress and emotional distress also play their role. Dr Gunter utilises herbal preparations, detoxification processes, Gerson therapeutics (juicing and nutrition) and homoeopathic remedies in the treatment process. Most of these protocols can be used alongside conventional therapies. Please contact us directly for more information.
Pain and Inflammatory conditions: Most conditions causing chronic pain and inflammation can be treated at the source of the problem rather than just utilising analgesics. If there is not a structural problem directly causing the pain, there is often issues around acidity and pH and chronic pain issues can be managed through correct nutrition and appropriate herbs and remedies. Biopuncture is also utilised in the treatment of acute and chronic pain. Biopuncture is the practice of injecting homoeopathic remedies, subcutaneously into the affected sites to stimulate local detoxification and reduce inflammation. Relief can come within minutes of these injections and many studies have compared their efficacy to corticosteroids with equivalent outcomes and results in terms of pain management.
Paediatrics: digestive disturbances, chronic mucus-post nasal drip, chronic cough, eczema, Attention deficit problems and hyperactivity. Many children today receive antibiotics often unnecessarily, many childhood conditions are in fact viral and the use of antibiotics is inappropriate and has a long term result on intestinal health, immunity and healthy bacterial flora. Using alternative health care can help to break the antibiotic cycle and restore the innate immune system to correct functionality.

Dr Gunter maintains that many of our modern ways of life contribute to sickly children: for example, refined diets high in sugar, processed foods, insufficient outdoor activity, overuse of antibacterial agents (soaps and anti-bacterial cleaning agents actually have the opposite effect for what they were intended for. Children are meant to be exposed to various organisms as this is how the immune system develops. Growing up in an over-sterilised environment is actually counter-productive to healthy immune function). The family dynamic and states of persistent stress in the home environment between adults also negatively impacts children. Dr Gunter works alongside educational psychologists to assist families in this regard.
Emotional distress: Dr Gunter has received training and is sensitive to assisting individuals experiencing emotional and psychological pain and distress. This includes depression, crises, fatigue, exhaustion, post partum depression, burn-out (emotional and physical correlations), prolonged grief, loneliness, despair, self sabotage, limiting beliefs and unconscious programming, childhood trauma and the need for insight and guidance.
